Punkrocker [feat. Iggy Pop]
Teddybears
2006

“♫ I’m listening to the music with no fear / you can hear it too if your sincere […] ♫”

As if you need any more proof that Iggy Pop is the epitome of cool—listen to this song from 2006—Punk Rocker. I know what you’re thinking how did a Swedish band like Teddybears snag Iggy Pop to sing on one of the most appropriately titled numbers—“Punkrocker?”

Joakim Åhlund of Sweden’s Teddybears told Ion Magazine: “Iggy Pop […] it’s pretty heavy. All those people are our heroes… we never would’ve dared to dream. It’s all pretty amazing for us that we got the opportunity to work with such cool artists. But for me personally, I don’t mean any disrespect to any of the others, but Iggy Pop…that’s a proud moment for me.”

These Teddybears should be proud. What a song! Cool as fuck—that’s Punkrocker, my gift of you—the perfect song for your Saturday night. Make sure you have the windows rolled down, let the whole world hear the sound of The Godfather of Punk— and the video below is proof positive that Jesus still loves himself some Iggy Pop!
