Don’t Forget the Songs-365: Mach Dos Day 24
Thurs. Feb 2 2012
“♫ Going home without my sorrow / Going home/ Sometime tomorrow/ Going home to where it’s better/ than before […] ♫ ”
The first cut from Old Ideas is dedicated to the glory of Going Home after work. I get this anticipation on my drive wanting to get home after midnight. This wasn’t always the case in my life— I’m lucky to have the most blessed faces I come home to— every night.
Welcome back Leonard, we missed you! What a way to open Old Ideas. No one sings it like Leonard—even if he’s hilariously mentioning himself in the third person. There is no one in the world like L.C. He’s more intriguing than the most interesting man in the world. Did you know, there is a man who writes song poetry so eloquently, women give themselves to him? The name of that poet is Leonard Cohen.
How great is L.C? Not only is Leonard Cohen an honored poet and an immortal songwriter but he also a gifted painter. Cohen is the Renaissance man I long to become.
It’s been a while since we’ve corresponded, Doc but I need to send out a celebratory P.S. to Leonard Cohen expert Dr.Hguy and his Duchess for their nuptials.
